The First Fews Days On A Sugar Detox

The first few days of a sugar detox are the hardest. During this time, my body constantly craves sugar, and it becomes a real mind game for me not to give in to my cravings and eat sugar.

Like anything, the first day can be the hardest, and the longer you go without sugar, the easier it should be.

Here are some things you may feel at the beginning of the detox. Not everyone feels this way, and for others, there may be other symptoms:

  • Headaches – Some people may have a headache or not feel well when starting a sugar detox.
  • Aches – Other people may feel pains or almost feel like they are sick or have the flu.
  • Anxious – For some people, they may feel more nervous than usual.
  • Stress – You may feel more stress than usual as you use sugar as a stress reliever.
  • Depressed – Some people may feel sad or unhappy as the sugar gives them a high.

There are many emotions and things you may feel when you stop sugar in your life. The main thing is not to quit and realize that all these things will pass. If you continue to feel sick, you may need to see a doctor to see if there are underlying health issues or reasons you should not go on a sugar detox.

We recommend that before anyone goes on a sugar detox, they talk to their health professionals to ensure they can do a sugar detox. For most people, it should not be a problem, and the doctor will welcome the news you are cutting sugar out of your life, but for others, the doctor may not want you to do it due to some health concerns they may have.

Our health and how our bodies handle things such as sugar are very individual. That is why this blog is only meant for general advice, and we recommend that if you are unsure if a sugar detox is proper for you, talk to a healthcare professional.

Steps To Help Your Sugar Detox

As with any detox plan, you can do things to ensure that your sugar detox will be successful. One of the most important things you can do is understand where some of your sugar triggers may come from.

Here are a few things to do to help you get through the first few days of a sugar detox:

  • Get rid of the sugar in your home and workplace as much as possible so that it will not trigger your sugar habit.
  • Look at what your sugar triggers are. If it goes to the store, make sure you do not need to do any shopping for the first few days of the detox. Find out what the triggers are and plan for the detox so that you can avoid those triggers.
  • Find a sugar detox buddy. We recommend you try this with a friend or family member so that you report to each other daily about how you are doing.
  • Get support. Find some other support if you can not find a friend or sugar buddy with whom to go on a sugar detox.
  • Take it one day at a time. Decide that today I will go without sugar, then the next day makes the same promises, etc. The longer you do this, the easier it will become.

The main thing you can do when going on a sugar detox is to do everything you need to ensure that you will be successful in your sugar detox.

18 To 254 Days To Make Full Lifestyle Change

If you are addicted to sugar, it will not be a quick fix to overcome the cravings and desire to have sugar. You may never get over a sugar addiction, but it will become easier over time.

What you are trying to do is not detox as much as to make a lasting lifestyle change. Changing your lifestyle can take anywhere from 18 to 254 days of effort.

That may seem like a long time for many, but changing your life is never easy because it is not easy to make these critical changes. We also recommend that you take it one day at a time.

For Most People, After 7 To 14 Days, It Gets Easier

After seven to fourteen days, it does get easier to refuse sugar and start to feel the benefits of a sugar detox. But this, again, can differ from person to person.

Some people may feel it in the first few days, while others can take a month. But no matter what the amount of days, the main thing is that you do it consistently and that you keep on going.

No magic number fits all, so if you are still not feeling well after two weeks, you may need to talk to a healthcare professional to find out why.

You May Always Deal With Some Sugar Craving

Reducing sugar from your diet through a detox should help your overall health and well-being. Most Americans eat and drink more sugar than recommended for healthy living.

But even with a detox, you may still have some sugar cravings. The problem is not the sugar cravings as much as you find a way to live with the sugar cravings so that you do not sub come to them,

That is why the longer you cut sugary food and drinks out of your life, the easier it will become to not sub come to sugar. We see that as one of the significant benefits of a sugar detox.
