On the other hand, excessive caffeine can also be bad for you. You are recommended not to consume more than 400 mg of caffeine daily. But if you consume caffeine excessively, you may also face health problems.

Excessive caffeine can cause you to have headaches, dizziness, restlessness, insomnia, anxiety, and even shakings. So many people can become affected by too much caffeine, just like if you overeat sugar.

Both Sugar And Caffeine Can Affect Your Body

Sugar and caffeine have a lot in common in that they can affect your body; when you eat a sweet piece of food such as candy, you may get a quick burst of energy or what is known as a sugar high.

In eating that sugar, your insulin levels rise, so you may feel this quick burst of energy or even feel happier or your mood change. But then, you will come crashing down when you feel that high. Sometimes, people might feel jittery or anxious and get a sugar crash.

Similarly, when you eat a lot of caffeine, you may also feel high and suddenly feel more awake. In some instances, people will begin to feel their hearts beating faster. In other words, caffeine will increase your heart rate.

In extreme cases, people may feel dizzy or faint when they drink too much caffeine. In other cases, people’s dopamine will start to increase, and they’ll begin to feel a release of euphoria or pleasant feelings when they drink caffeine.

That is why many people who drink coffee in the morning fill a surge of happiness. It is because the caffeine in the coffee has stimulated the release of the neurotransmitter dopamine.

Sugar and caffeine can adversely affect our bodies. Both can give us a temporary high but then see us come crashing down again. That is why substances can be so addictive for us because of the way they can make us temporarily feel.

Sugar and caffeine are substances we should strive to limit or not have on a keto and low-carb lifestyle. At the very least, everyone should try to have caffeine and sugar in moderation.
