Post Date – Update:

Guacamole is one of the best dishes on a low-carb and keto diet. The beauty of guacamole is that it has a lot of great fats from the avocado while being very healthy for the low carb and keto lifestyle.

Authentic guacamole has avocados, onions, garlic, lime, cilantro, jalapeno or other chili peppers, and salt. We also like adding tomato and other peppers to our guacamole. We consider guacamole a perfect and staple dish to be eaten on the low-carb and keto lifestyle.

Why We Love Authentic Guacamole

Guacamole is a great dish to make on a keto or low-carb diet. All guacamole ingredients can be eaten with a keto or low-carb diet.

We love guacamole because it uses many great fresh ingredients, including fresh avocados, cilantro, lime, salt, onions, and other vegetables.

Our recipe uses the authentic recipe of making Guacamole as we use avocados, salt, lime jalapeños, onions, and add some garlic, tomatoes, and peppers. But you could make your guacamole with avocado, salt, lime, Jalapeno, and onions without tomatoes and peppers.

About The Ingredients For Our Authentic Guacamole Recipe

Guacamole is a straightforward dish to make. There is no reason you should buy the store version of guacamole when it is easy for you to make it at home. There are just a few things you need to know to understand when making guacamole,

The easiest way to make guacamole is with a mortar and pestle set.

Invest In A Mortar And Pestle Set

A mortar and pestle set is an excellent set for you to own. You can use the mortar and pestle set to make Guacamole, mix spices, or other ingredients anytime. It is an essential kitchen item.

We recommend that you get a set that has the following:

  • Buy a Large Mortar And Pestle Set – Mortar and Pestle sets can come in different sizes. When buying one, make sure to buy one in a larger size so you can use it to make dishes like guacamole. If it s too small, it will be hard to use to make guacamole. We recommend a set that holds at least 2 cups.
  • Good Material – The mortar and pestle sets come in various materials; we recommend you try to get one in granite, marble, or hardwood.
  • You May Need To Season Your Mortar And Pestle Set – You may need to season your mortar and pestle set. If this is a problem, you may want to get one that does not need to be seasoned.

Our favorite Mortar and Pestle set is Williams Sonoma’s, which is large but high-quality. You can find out more about the set by clicking here.

Choose Fresh And Good Ingredients For Your Guacamole

One of the keys to making delicious guacamole is ensuring that all the ingredients you choose are fresh. Guacamole is made to be fresh and is made to be eaten with fresh ingredients.

Here are a few things to remember about your Guacamole ingredients:

  • Ripe Avocados – When making guacamole, you must have ripe avocados. If the avocados are not ripe enough, the guacamole will not work out, and you will not be able to make it if you want to make guacamole in a few days and pick avocados that will be ripe in about that time. You can tell if an avocado is ripe by touching it to see whether or not it is soft on the inside.
  • Use Lime – Even though lime and lemon are very similar, it is better to use lime for guacamole than lemon. This is because lemon is sweeter than lime, so it will not taste the same if you use lemon versus lime.
  • Onion – You can use yellow or red onion with guacamole. Many times we prefer to use a red onion. This would be more up to your taste and tell what you might prefer.
  • Fresh Garlic – Only use fresh garlic to make your guacamole. Do not use the tube and garlic in the jar. It just will not taste the same as the fresh garlic.
  • Fresh Cilantro – You should also only use fresh cilantro for your guacamole. It will not taste the same if you try to use a dried version. The cilantro should be fresh.
  • Salt – We prefer to use natural salt like sea salt. This would be the type of salt that would have been used in authentic guacamole.
  • Jalapeno Or Red Chili Peppers – Jalapeno peppers would be the most traditional peppers in guacamole. We also sometimes use red chili peppers.
  • Fresh Tomatoes – We like fresh tomatoes for our guacamole. We feel this gives it a nice taste while adding vegetables. Not all authentic guacamole has tomatoes, but many of them do.
  • Red, Yellow, And Green Peppers – We also like to add red, yellow, and green peppers to our guacamole. Again, this can also be optional, but we like the taste the peppers add to the guacamole.

One of the main things you should remember when making guacamole is that all ingredients should be smashed together. This is where a mortar and pestle comes in very handy as you can first put in the garlic, then the onions, then the avocado, salt lime, and the other items you want to have in your guacamole.

A mortar and pestle make it much easier to make the Guacamole and using one you can make guacamole in just a few minutes.
